Orientation BOOKLET for FILIPINOS IN germany

Are you new in Germany?

A free orientation booklet containing practical tips and information for newcomers and settlers in Germany is available for you.

In commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the Philippine-German diplomatic relations, the University of the Philippines Alumni Association (UPAA) Germany e.V.  cooperated with the Philippine Embassy in Berlin on several projects to highlight the occasion.  In this light, alumni members of the association have developed an Orientation Booklet for Filipinos in Germany.  This pocket-sized information booklet is specially tailored for use as a general "Guide" on the "basics" to help visiting Filipinos and newly-arrived residents/migrants adapt in Germany.   It contains practical tips and information based on current references and personal experience of the authors.  The 91-page booklet, with its comprehensive coverage, is first of its kind since the start of the Philippine-German diplomatic relations.

The online copy has been launched on May 26, 2014.  In cooperation with generous donors, printed copies of the booklets  have been produced and turned-over to the Philippine Embassy in Berlin for distribution to its consulates and clientele.  Copies of the booklet were also shared with churches and organizations hosting Filipino congregations.  You can also download the booklet here for free. (Note: The actual size of the booklet is DIN-A6 (10.5 cm x 14.8 cm) , i.e. 4 pages can fit in a usual DIN-A4 size paper.)

Feel free to share this information or post it on your website and social media.  The booklet contains a written permission that it can be printed without modification and  distributed worldwide for non-commercial purposes.

For any comments/suggestions for future revisions of the booklet, feel free to email the authors at orientbooklet[at]upaagermany[dot]org.

Danke schön!

The 2014 premier edition of the orientation booklet benefited from the help of UPAA Germany e.V. colleagues and friends, especially Dr. Marlies Salazar who shared valuable time proofreading the document, Victoria Villar-Demmer, Dr. Gabriel Kühne, Peter Wolff and Azela Arumpac for providing references, corrections and comments on the booklet.  We are also especially grateful to Ambassador Maria Cleofe Natividad, the Philippine Embassy in Berlin, Mr. and Mrs. George and Yapsie Vega (from D-55131 Mainz), Mr. and Mrs. Rey and Delia Ginete (from D-65817 Eppstein) and all corporate donors (listed below) who supported this project.
