DONATIONS FOR THE LUMAD STUDENTS
This is an outreach project which aims to donate second-hand (and brand new if possible) clothes, shoes, and bags for Lumad children and teenagers. Lumad is the collective term for various distinct indigenous groups in Mindanao. The project will be implemented in cooperation with the University of the Philippines Diliman SOS Network (chaired by UP Diliman Chancellor Michael Tan). This network has been helping Lumad children who study in Lumad schools in Mindanao who have been targeted by increasing militarization. Due to the human rights violations, Lumads sought the help of UP Diliman for protection and to help them advocate for their rights. The university recently hosted the Lakbayan of Lumads where the latter stayed in the university. UPAA Germany's project organizers (Rosa Castillo and Kay Abaño) are kindly assisted by Prof. Clod Yambao of the SOS Network in this project.

What can we donate or do?
- donate second-hand and/or brand new (if possible) clothes, shoes, bags, notebooks, pencils and other school materials. (If you can only donate clothes and shoes for colder weather, this can also be used by Lumads especially since it can be cold in the mountains.). - partial or full sponsorship of a Balikbayan Box containing the goodies to be delivered to the Lumad beneficiaries. Balikbayan box shipping costs around 80 Euros per box. Eight people can sponsor a box, pitching in 10 Euros per person, as well as giving donation-in-kind.
