UPAA Germany e.V. wishes to thank all its members, donors and friends who participated in the different initiatives to help the typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda) victims in the Philippines. To date, the association raised a total of 2,084.19 € for the typhoon Haiyan projects. It has been distributed to the different beneficiary projects (please see details below) in collaboration with the HAGIBBAT, STPRC and the Mabuhay Philippines Förderverein THI e.V. This page is constantly updated to inform the public on the progress of different initiatitives and projects to help the typhoon Haiyan victims.

Winter Fest of the Gustav Heinemann Oberschule (GHO) on November 27, 2013 (Wednesday, 3pm - 6pm) -
UPAA Germany with the help of the GHO students and "kababayans" in
Berlin and Brandenburg will sell Filipino foods to raise funds for the
"School Supplies for PhilKids" project and help the victims of the Haiyan(Yolanda) typhoon. The project was organized by Lea Sylvester. For the photo documentation, please see the Calendar of Events 2013.
Winter Market at the Nelson Mandela School on 2013 December 14 (Saturday, 11am - 4pm) - UPAA Germany, together with the The Loved Flock community
participated in Winter Market of the Nelson Mandela School (NMS) in
Berlin. Cooked Filipino foods donated by members of the two groups were
sold in the Winter Market for the benefit of the typhoon Haiyan victims.
All proceeds will be given to the NGO, HAGIBBAT, through UPAA
Germany. Other student groups of NMS participated in the Winter Market to also help the Philippines. For detailed photo

Beneficiary Projects
The funds (2,084.19 €) collated by and endorsed to UPAA Germany were used to support projects and local organizations in the Philippines working directly in the disaster areas. The beneficiary projects are as follows (Please click on the respective project for updates):
Rehabilitation Project for the Mangyans in Mindoro (spearheaded by HAGIBBAT and STPRC)
Rebuilding of the destroyed National Heroes School in Tacloban City (spearheaded by Mabuhay Philippines Förderverein THI e.V.)

Göttingen Fund Raising Initiatives
The University of Göttingen, with the help of the Filipino and international communities, launched projects to help "kababayans" hit by the typhoon. Uni Goettingen is a partner university of Leyte State University in the Philippines. There were a number of Filipino students and researchers in Goettingen whose hometowns were badly hit by the typhoon. UPAA Germany members also helped in the Göttingen fund raising initiatives.
Below are a few photos taken in the neighborhood of one Filipino student whose family was badly affected by the typhoon.

Mabuhay Philippines Förderverein THI e.V. - an association coordinated by the THI (Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt) Business School (c/o Prof. Axel Bader). Its aim is to support families, children and socially disadvantaged people in the Philippines. In the medium term, the association aims to support Philippine students of its partner university, the Silliman University, for a study visit at the THI in Ingolstadt, Germany. The association is also directly helping victims of the typhoon Haiyan. Please click here for the press release of the association.
