UPAA Germany e.V. invites you to participate in its Photos-for-a-Cause project.
By simply donating a photo or by being a project sponsor, you will be helping in our educational and scholarship fund raising campaign.
Important note: Due to the recent destruction caused by typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda) in the Philippines, donations to Photos-for-a-cause will be diverted to help the victims of the disaster. Donations of project sponsors will be forwarded to organizations working directly with the typhoon victims in the Philippines. To become a donor or project sponsor, please click here. Description and Objectives of the Project
Photos-for-a-Cause aims to support the educational and cultural projects of the University of the Philippines Alumni Association (UPAA) Germany e.V. This project is launched this year for the following specific objectives:
(1) To gather a collection of photos about the Philippines and Germany that will be used for the orientation booklet, photo exhibits, website and print publications of UPAA Germany. The primer/orientation booklet which will be distributed for free next year will contain practical tips and information for newcomers and settlers in Germany. Selected photos from Photos-for-a-cause might also be used in the visual art exhibition during the celebration of the anniversary of the Philippine-German relation in 2014;
(2) To encourage sponsors to support Photos-for-a-Cause by donating funds to the project. The donations in this project will be used for the photos and orientation booklet printing expenses and to subsidize the UPAA Germany Scholarship Grant that will support students-in-need in the Philippines. How to Participate in the Project
As Photo Donor:
If you are at least 18 years old and wish to donate a photo or photos about the theme “Philippines and Germany: Photo Links”, you can be one of our photo donors. You can submit up to 3 photo entries. Photo submission begins on September 18, 2013 and ends on January 30, 2014 (Extended!). Each entry will be displayed online and will have a chance to be voted as a “favorite photo” by the public. The most voted photo will receive an Amazon gift certificate (worth 15 Euros) as award. In case of ties or absence of votes, the UPAA Germany board will choose the most “artistic” photo that portrays the theme. Members of the UPAA Germany board are not eligible for the award. As Project Sponsor:
If you are 18 years or older and wish to donate any amount to the Photos-for-a-Cause project, you can be one of our project sponsors. You can sign-up as sponsor starting September 18, 2013. A photo donor can also sign-up as a project sponsor. To become a project sponsor, please fill-up the sponsorship form. One project sponsor will be randomly drawn as awardee to receive a token of appreciation from the organization during its first general assembly in 2014.
UPAA Germany, represented by its project coordinator for Photos-for-a-Cause is responsible for screening photo entries as well as administering the project. In the event that the awardees (photo donor and project sponsor) cannot be traced or does/do not respond within fifteen (15) days after the notification or refuses the award, UPAA Germany, in its sole discretion, may choose another awardee or use the award for another project. Photo entries and awardees will be posted on http://projects.upaagermany.org/projects-photos-for-a-cause-2013.html
