VON KEYSERLINgk'S OUTREACH PROJECTS FOR THE HAIYAN VICTIMS
This project is a private initiative of Myrna and Niels von Keyserlingk who went to Leyte and Aklan to help the Haiyan (Yolanda) typhoon victims. Niels and Myrna are also regular donors of UPAA Germany projects. This initiative for the typhoon Haiyan victims led by the couple has been supported by a number of UPAA Germany members and friends of the couple.
"....our planned support action for some victims of ‘Haiyan’ will be directed towards the youth. It is now clear that the funds we generate will be used to help re-build school buildings in Barangay Campokpok, a remote village in the northern part of Leyte and another one in Ochando, Kalibo, Aklan (Iloilo Islands)." - Myrna and Niels von Keyserlingk The couple had also conducted several charitable projects in Burma and in Manila. Panay and Leyte : The Before and After
Project 1: Panay Island - Pacto de Sangre Nursery
Total rebuilding of a classroom from roof, walls, doors, toilets and storage area. A master carpenter, an assistant carpenter and an overseer were employed. The rest
were done by the parents. The mothers were mobilised to start a gardening competition using the back yard.
Project 2: Panay Island - Ochando National High School
Several components of the school compound needed repair; like the Stage, Multi-Purpose Covered Court and Toilets.

Project 5: Leyte Island - "Katimbang sa Kalampusan"
Katimbang sa Kalampusan is a Visayan phrase which when translated in simple English, means Partner in Progress.
Katimbang sa Kalampusan is a local foundation founded in 1998 by two prominent families in Campokpok. The foundation is headed by Attorney Geraldine Jorda, a family lawyer based in Cebu. The main aim of this group is to help send to school deserving young ones from poor families in their village (Campokpok) to alleviate poverty, especially those whose parents who can no longer afford to pay the school fees due to poverty, bad luck or ill health.
